The Rocky Mountaineer

There’s no better way to experience Western Canada than by riding the Rocky Mountaineer. This isn’t an ordinary train trip – the railcars weave through otherwise inaccessible terrain in the Canadian Rockies, unveiling a secret world of raw and rugged beauty.

You’re also riding a piece of living history. The Rocky Mountaineer operates along the historic Canadian Pacific and National Railways – two routes built in the late 1800s and early 1900s to connect the newly founded country called “Canada.” Today, passengers listen to tales of Indigenous communities who have lived on this land for centuries; early fur traders, gold prospectors and explorers; and the plight of Asian laborers who constructed the railway. It’s one way to sink your teeth into Canada’s rich history without venturing inside a museum.
